Funded Projects

So far, £10 million has been raised through The Health Lottery in London East.

Thanks to this money, 323 of local projects have been funded by People’s Health Trust, since 2011.

Newham Chinese Association

Were awarded £50,000 to extend the range of activities offered to Chinese elders by the Newham Chinese Association. Many older people within the Chinese community find that language and cultural barriers can prevent them from developing their social networks and making friends.

This project will draw Chinese elders from across Newham, Havering, Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham and help them to reconnect with the community. Activities will run twice weekly and will include a lunch group and a mix of social and cultural activities such as singing and board games. The project will be based in Newham and will help participants to build friendships.

Big Red Bus Club

Were awarded £43,713 to support and train local parents to deliver daily stay and play sessions for under-fives. The project will be based in the Charlton Park area of Greenwich, an inner borough in south London.

Annie Drewry from the Big Red Bus Club says: "Thanks to this funding we can support and train local parents to deliver daily stay and play sessions for under-fives. This allows us to provide important skills and training for local parents and allows us to support many more local familes.”
